Courtside Pizza – Slice Night — Maxwell Burton

Athens is home to many late-night and weekend traditions, such as Halloween and the fest season. Many local restaurants and bars have weeknight deals on food or drinks to cater to the weeknight crowd. One of the most overlooked deals in Athens is at Courtside Pizza. You can partake in a deliciously greasy NY-style slice every Wednesday for only a dollar.

Courtside Pizza is unique from other Athens slices. All pizza shops in Athens have a key differentiating factor. Little Fish provides a wonderful deep dish slice with the most incredible buttery and flakey crust, but the hours don’t cater to a late-night slice. Goodfellas provides a straightforward late-night pizza that’s doughy, saucy, and, most importantly, cheesy. Avalanche provides the most diversity of toppings and the biggest punch of flavor in the town.

Courtside provides the closest feeling to a late-night slice in New York City. After a long night, you pop into a local pizza shop and grab an incredibly greasy slice of pizza. Unfortunately, the pizza is greasier than I would hope; however, their pepperoni and Wednesday prices make up for this. There is no better place in town to grab a slice of pizza for a single dollar. Just be sure to grab a napkin on your way out.

Next time you are considering your Wednesday dinner options, pop into Courtside for a beer and slice with your friends.
