Key Takeaways:

  • Transitioning to Post-Grad Life: Adjusting to a 9-to-5 schedule can be tough. Building a routine that balances work and personal life is crucial to managing stress and maintaining energy. Workplace culture and the people you work with are key to enjoying your job.
  • Career Growth: Your first job after college won’t be your last. Vivian moved from Wendy’s to HearUSA for a better opportunity and salary. Networking can help, but don’t underestimate the power of persistence—Vivian secured her role at Wendy’s by proactively reaching out on LinkedIn to resolve application issues.
  • Skills and Responsibilities: Vivian’s role at HearUSA spans internal communications, content creation, social media, influencer marketing, earned media, event planning and budget management. She stated the importance of being a strategic storyteller and understanding key tools like Excel, Google Analytics and CRM systems.
  • Balancing Passion and Profession: Prioritize self-care and make time for hobbies and relationships. Trying new things and connecting with like-minded people can make life worthwhile outside of work.
  • Perspective on Success: Everyone is figuring things out—it’s okay to not have everything perfect. Take a breath, embrace the moment and remember: “We work in PR, not the ER.” Find joy in what you do and don’t take life too seriously.
