Social media has always been an industry that piqued my interest. I have been drawn to content creation, planning content calendars, building strategies and finding new ways to engage audiences. Last month, I completed my internship with Broken Leg Entertainment. The company is an award-winning entertainment brand that encourages people to dream big, laugh hard and love more. My time with the team helped me understand what it takes to manage an active digital presence.
During the internship, I oversaw several of the company’s social media platforms. These included Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads and X. One of my main responsibilities was managing the content calendar. Each week, I used tools such as Google Sheets, Meta Business Suite, Creator Studio and YouTube Studio to plan and schedule posts. I drafted ideas and organized timelines. I also worked to keep each platform consistent with the company’s voice and goals.

Working on a small team was one of the most rewarding parts of the internship. It was my first experience being part of a dedicated social media group. In past roles, I usually handled every step of the process myself. The closest experience I had that mirrored this internship was serving as the Vice President of Digital Communications for Scripps PRSSA, where I worked alongside the Vice President of Visual Communications. At Scripps PRSSA and Broken Leg, responsibilities were shared, and communication was constant. The environment allowed me to learn how different roles support one another and how ideas develop when multiple people contribute to the creative process.
My time with Broken Leg Entertainment helped me grow my skills in design, content strategy and teamwork. I also gained a deeper understanding of how the entertainment industry uses social media to tell stories and build community. The experience strengthened my passion for social media marketing and gave me a clearer idea of the career I hope to pursue after graduation.
