Allison Zullo, 02/02/2026

This week, our chapter was visited by Ohio University alumna Allison Zullo (‘17). Allison was once a member of Scripps PRSSA, ImPRessions and the Student Alumni Board (SAB) during her time in Athens, but quickly found a bigger stomping ground to grow into after graduating. Allison now lives in Chicago, serving as the Vice President of PR at Walker Sands. Allison has been loyal to Walker Sands since June of 2017 and highly attributes her loyalty to the growth opportunities and positive culture the company provides. Allison introduced our chapter to what truly integrating AI tools looks like at Walker Sands by providing a close-up look at Walker Sands’ AI Domain Impact Index, which tracks how their clients are appearing in AI-generated responses and how often. During her presentation, Allison also included the three main qualities of an agency pro that future PR professionals should aim to have, which fell into three categories: tactical skills, work ethic and personality traits. Allison emphasized that agency pros are great, hard working writers and specialists who are professional and always willing to learn. Lastly, to finish off her presentation, Allison gave our chapter members career advice, specifically for those looking to enter the world of PR after graduation. Allison’s advice is listed below.

Allison’s Career Advice:

  • Read the news – every day!
  • Don’t be afraid to try out a new space, industry, or role.
  • Never stop learning or being curious.
  • Use AI for efficiencies – but don’t lean on it for everything.
  • Consider a post-grad internship in the right circumstances.
  • Work hard, be proactive, ask questions & demonstrate interest.
