Meet the 2012-2013 VP of Social Affairs

Meet the 2012-2013 VP of Social Affairs

Name: Cidnye Weimer

Year: Sophomore

PRSSA Position: VP of Social Affairs

Hometown: Cincinnati, OH (but I just  moved to Naperville, IL a suburb outside of Chicago)

Major: Public Relations/Strategic Communications

Why you wanted to be on the executive board: This past year’s exec board really helped me a lot with everything I needed, I probably wouldn’t have my internship this summer if it weren’t for them! PRSSA has given me some of my best experiences as a freshman and I wanted the chance to give back and help make PRSSA the best it can be. I can’t wait to help the incoming freshman next year!

How PRSSA has helped you: Everything I have learned about PR has come from PRSSA, I haven’t taken any PR classes yet but I feel like I already know a lot. Plus PRSSA helped me get my wonderful internship this summer.

Why you chose to attend OU: It was the best option financially, but the brick roads/buildings and college town feeling really won me over! Also the fact that Scripps is one of the top ten J-Schools in the country! I have never regreted my decision for one minute and I would never leave!

PR experience: ImPRessions, PRSSA, Internship at WCPO Channel 9 in Cincinnati, Current Event Coordinator at Red Frog Events

Advice for incoming freshmen: GET INVOLVED !! As early as possible. But don’t forget to have fun while doing it.

Interesting Fact: I rode my bike 610 miles to Niagara Falls in Canada when I was in high school

Hobbies: Reading, shopping, watching movies, playing tennis, dancing, hanging out with friends

Favorite OU memory: Homecoming Week!

Where you see yourself in 10 years: I hope to be working at a PR Agency in a city, maybe Chicago, New York or somewhere in California. Maybe working in the Entertainment or Fashion Industry. Successful, married and getting ready to start a family.
