Meet the 2012-2013 ImPRessions VP of Operations

 Name: Sienna Tomko

 Year: Senior

PRSSA Position: ImPRessions VP of Operations

 Hometown: Independence, OH (Cleveland)

Major: Journalism (PR), Business Administration minor

Why you wanted to be on the executive board: I was appointed by ImPRessions CEO Heather Bartman and was excited to take on this position. I have a lot of great ideas that I’d like to contribute to the Executive Board and I’m anxious to see how much this organization can grow.

How PRSSA has helped you: I attribute most of my success to PRSSA. From the information provided by speakers to the networking opportunities with professionals all over Ohio and beyond, one would be crazy not to take part in this organization. The upperclassmen have also been key to helping shape my future; they truly are talented and driven role models for everyone.

Why you chose to attend OU: The Scripps reputation brought me here. Before looking at OU, I was looking in Chicago, California and New York. However, OU offers a top journalism program with a small town feel. I knew this would be my home away from home for the next four years.

 PR experience:
I’ve gained a ton of experience thus far. I’ve interned with The Cleveland Clinic (Cleveland), Children’s National Medical Center (D.C.), JMI Reports, Inc. and RecentGrad.net. At OU, I’ve held PR positions through the Office of Lifelong & Distance Learning and I currently work for the McClure School of ITS. This summer I will be interning in Cleveland at the American Diabetes Association and at CMP Communications, LLC.

Advice for incoming freshmen: Do it all! You have four years to do anything and everything on campus. Soak it all in as soon as you can.

Interesting Fact: The first place I’m traveling to after graduation is Siena, Italy – I’ve always wanted to go!

Hobbies: I love thrift shopping with my mom, listening to country music, trying new restaurants/foods and traveling!

Favorite OU memory: The last three years. I wouldn’t change anything.

Where you see yourself in 10 years: In the sun, working in the healthcare PR field and surrounded by family & friends.
