We hope everyone had a marvelous Thanksgiving! It is almost our favorite day of the week. With internship hunting about to begin, PRSSA has planned a panel of your very own PRSSA members to offer advice on snagging the perfect internship!
Please join us in Scripps 111 tomorrow, November 26 at 6:00 p.m. for our weekly PRSSA Meeting. This week will be our Student Internship Panel. We will be hearing from Allison Jordan, Nicole Spears, Heather Bartman and Cidnye Weimer who all completed very interesting internships this past summer including agency, abroad, and event planning!
This is the PERFECT time to hear about the great opportunities available for PR Stars like you all!
Nicole Spears is a junior Strategic Communications major from Medina, Ohio. Spears is currently the VP of Member Relations with Scripps PRSSA as well as the Account Executive for the ImPRessions GoBus account. She has completed an internship with Athens County Children Services, and also with a travel and tourism PR firm in Paris, France. Spears hopes to work in Business Development at a PR agency in San Francisco after graduation.
My name is Cidnye Weimer and I am a sophomore studying strategic communications and pursuing a Global Leadership Certificate. I am a tour guide, VP of Social Affairs for PRSSA and in charge of the Social Affairs Committee; I am an account associate for the EXPRESS ImPRessions account and an active member of my sorority Alpha Gamma Delta. I am from Cincinnati, Ohio but just recently moved to Naperville, IL. Red Frog Events was my very first internship and I currently have two other internships, my Pace job as the Event Coordinator for the Student Expo in the Spring and I just recently became a Social Content Writer for a company named Clabbor via another company called Axis of Awesome which is a part of Archrival.
Allison Jordan is currently the President for our PRSSA Chapter at Ohio University and a senior studying Public Relations in the Scripps School of Journalism. Allison has gained a wide array of public relations experience through various internships and positions while in college. She has interned at two PR agencies, Fahlgren Mortine and Highland PR, where she has gained knowledge in consumer, b2b and non-profit sectors of public relations. Fahlgren Mortine has locations throughout the country and is an O’Dwyer’s top 35 independent public relations firm and Highland PR is a smaller boutique agency located in Akron, Ohio.
Allison has also worked as a Communications Intern at Huntington National Bank’s corporate office in Columbus Ohio, as well as the Alumni Relations and Event Planning Intern for the Patton College of Education and Human Services. Allison has also worked for Ohio University’s student-run PR firm, ImPRessions, for four years and has held several leadership positions from committees to individual accounts. Finally, Allison serves on the Facility Event Planning Committee for Ohio University’s Recreational Center, Ping.
After graduation, Allison plans on staying in Ohio where she hopes to work full time in a PR agency or as a young professional in corporate communications. This is her fourth year as a member of PRSSA and she looks forward to joining PRSA after graduation.
Heather Bartman is a senior strategic communications major at Ohio University. During her time here, she has been actively involved with PRSSA and ImPRessions, serving on both executive boards for the past two years; this year, Heather is the CEO of ImPRessions. She has completed four internships, most recently in New York City at Current Lifestyle Marketing, an IPG public relations agency working with clients such as Samsung, Champion and PepsiCo. She is also a member of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity, and has served a variety of functions for the university as a Pepsi Scholar and Richard O. Linke Scholar. When she’s not being “professional,” Heather likes to be artsy, goof around with her friends and live Bobcat life to the fullest.
