According to the PRSSA national bylaws, each chapter must have both a Faculty Advisor and a Professional Advisor. It’s well known that our chapter’s Faculty Advisor is Dr. Dashiell, the Director of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism. However, this year, Scripps PRSSA gained a new Professional Mentor. Hannah Schuller, an OU and Scripps PRSSA alumna, was elected to this role in September. I luckily had the chance to meet her when I attended one of OSU’s PRSSA meetings a few months ago, as she was one of their speakers. Hannah is a great resource for our chapter, and I highly recommend reaching out to her and getting to know her better! That being said, I want to share some background information about Hannah for those who haven’t yet had a chance to speak with her.
WHILE AT OU
-As previously stated, Hannah is an Ohio University and Scripps PRSSA alumna. She graduated in May 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in strategic communication, minoring in marketing and receiving a social media certificate.
-During her senior year of college, she served as Scripps PRSSA’s Vice President of Member Relations.
-She also participated in PRSSA National’s annual 2018 Bateman Case Study Competition as the social media manager.
-Hannah was involved in other student organizations, such as The Post and 1804 Communication.
-Before graduating, Hannah interned for Belle Communication, the Ohio State Fair, Ohio University Student Affairs and Marketing and the Geauga County Engineer’s Office.
AFTER OU
-Hannah’s first job post-grad was a project coordinator for GSW Advertising.
-From January to April 2021, she interned with Inspire PR Group in Columbus, Ohio. In May, she was offered a full-time position as an account coordinator.
-Hannah currently works at Inspire as an account associate, working on clients involved in the restaurant, hospitality and education sectors, including Cameron Mitchell Restaurants, Charleys Philly Steaks, the Ohio Restaurant Association, The Junto and more.
-She is currently a member of PRSA Central Ohio’s Liaison Committee, where she communicates with students across local PRSSA chapters. She also served as a Communications Committee member for COPRSA last year.
-And of course, Hannah now serves as our Professional Advisor for Scripps PRSSA!
PERSONAL LIFE
-Hannah is from Streetsboro, Ohio, and currently lives in the Clintonville area of Columbus.
-She’s a huge Harry Styles fan – she’s seen him three times!
-Hannah also enjoys trying new restaurants, reading and practicing yoga.
-She’s a proud cat mom to Kali, a very rambunctious lady!
